Caledonia Housing Association Delight at Grant Funding to Support our Elderly Communities
Caledonia Housing Association were delighted to receive confirmation that our PCF(People and Communities Fund) grant offer of just over £24,000 has been approved, continuing towards the funding of our highly successful Volunteer Project.
This is the 2nd year Caledonia housing Association has received funding from the People and Communities Fund (PCF) Grant allowing us to provide a support and befriending service for older people throughout the community to reduce social isolation, bringing communities and people together in sheltered accommodation across Dundee, Angus, Perth and Kinross and North East Fife.
Gill Donoghue, Head of Support Services for Older People at Caledonia Housing Association said “We are delighted to receive this funding from the PCF. The Volunteer Service plays a vital role in reducing social isolation amongst our elderly tenants whilst providing valuable opportunities to our volunteers to gain work experience and qualifications”.
Caledonia Housing Association’s Volunteer Service supports volunteers to undertake a variety of different roles within the project. People of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy volunteering and gain a great deal from the experience, whether that is volunteering one-to-one in a Befriending role, or helping to support weekly social activities. The aim this year is to recruit an additional 25 volunteers many of which we hope will be able to gain recognised qualifications as a result of their involvement with the Volunteer Project at Caledonia Housing Association.
