Consultation on 2019/20 Rent Increase
Date Posted: 31st of January 2019
Calling all tenants! We want to hear your views on your rent.
Complete our 2 question online survey about our proposed rent increase by 19th February to be in with a chance of winning a £50 voucher.
Caledonia strives to ensure our rents are fair and remain affordable and that any rent increase compares favorably with other housing providers.
This week we have written to all our tenants to ask for your opinions on our proposed rent increase of 2.4% from April 2019.
Our rent setting policy states we will not normally increase our rents by more than the September rate of inflation (CPI) plus 1%. September CPI was 2.4%. As in previous years we do not intend to apply the full increase but are consulting on an inflation only increase of 2.4% effective April 2019.
The attached document provides full details on comparable rent increases across other organisations and gives a budget breakdown of how we spend each £1 of rent. Please see click here to see the full document.
For our tenants who have recently transferred over from Antonine Housing Association it was agreed that the rents for your properties would be subject to a binding rent increase agreement, as part of the transfer arrangements. Your rent letters have also been sent out this week with full details of the proposed rent increases and rent freezes, a copy of which can be seen here. The information leaflet that was sent out with this letter for with the freepost feedback form can be downloaded here.
