Planning Approval for Rosebank Development in Dundee

Date Posted: 17th of June 2021

Dundee City Council has granted planning permission for a Caledonia Housing Association and Voigt Partnership designed development on the site of the former Rosebank Primary School in Dundee.

The development of 40 new homes includes 30 properties for social housing for Caledonia, and ten for private sale, creating a mix two, three and four-bedroom homes over one or two storeys. With two homes specifically designed for accessible living.

The highly energy efficient homes will be constructed by Discovery Homes using the latest off-site construction techniques to reducing construction time on site with the properties expected to be wind and watertight within a week of being on site.

Andrew Kilpatrick, Director of Assets at Caledonia Housing Association, said:  “We are passionate about the importance of high quality social housing and believe this development will become an exemplar for others to follow.  These homes will be the most energy efficient properties we have ever built, and will result in warm, healthy homes with low energy bills thus addressing important societal issues such as fuel poverty.”

Grant White, Director of Discovery Homes, said:  “We specialise in designing new homes that are built with the environment in mind, creating attractive properties that are cleaner and cheaper to run, but affordable too, thanks to our use of technologically advanced offsite construction.”

Voigt Architects has already completed a number of housing developments with Discovery Homes. Jonathan Reeve, Director and Architect, Voigt Architects, said: “This is an exciting development on a challenging brownfield site in the Hilltown area of Dundee. We hope that these houses will set the standard for new social housing, given their exceptional energy efficient standards.”
