Caledonia Publishes First ESG Report, Demonstrating Progress Towards Net Zero And Social Impact Objectives
Caledonia Housing Group has published its first Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, marking a major milestone in its journey towards a sustainable and socially responsible future.
Aligned with the Sustainability Reporting Standard (SRS) for Social Housing, the report outlines how Caledonia is embedding ESG principles across all areas of the business – from investment decisions and development programmes to community engagement and climate action.
Demonstrating how strong governance, environmental stewardship, and social value are integrated into decision-making across the organisation, the report focuses on four key areas: Environment, Social, Governance, and Sustainable Finance.
Key highlights from the 2024-25 report include:
A 15% reduction in operational emissions compared to Caledonia’s 2019/20 baseline – achieved despite stock growth in this period of more than 1,160 homes.
91% of Caledonia’s homes now rated EPC* Band C or above, with 46% of new homes delivered in 2024–25 achieving Band A.
£9.4 million invested in capital improvements and maintenance, enhancing the energy efficiency and comfort of tenants’ homes.
52 new homes delivered and 139 under construction across Scotland.
1,297 tenants supported through partnerships with Lightning Reach and Scarf, unlocking more than £286,000 in financial support and savings.
Julie Cosgrove, Chief Executive of Caledonia Housing Association said: “This report is about more than numbers, it’s about leadership and accountability and the role Caledonia play in tackling Scotland’s biggest challenges. Our ESG reporting provides a clear framework to measure progress, build trust, and ensure our actions deliver real value for tenants, communities and the environment.”
Allan Jones, Chair of Caledonia’s Management Board said: “Publishing our ESG report reinforces Caledonia’s commitment to transparency and responsible investment. It positions us strongly to work with partners, funders and government to build sustainable, resilient communities.
“ESG reporting isn’t just about compliance – it’s about demonstrating how we use our resources to deliver real social value, tackle climate change, and build trust with the people and communities we serve.”
