Caledonia Shortlisted For Two Scottish Home Awards
Caledonia Housing Association (CHA) has been shortlisted in two categories at the 2025 Scottish Home Awards, which celebrate excellence in new-build housing and outstanding contributions to the sector across Scotland.
CHA has been nominated in the ‘Community Contribution’ category which highlights outstanding dedication and impactful contributions by housing associations in their communities. This recognises CHA’s £12,000 community fund announced last year which supported local community organisations that directly impact its tenants’ lives as part of its Giving Back initiatives. Further notable contributions included volunteering, community engagement, the provision of accessible housing options and partnerships with Scarf and Lightning Reach who provide energy-saving support and financial assistance to our tenants.
The £2.1 million Berryknowe Avenue Development in Chryston, North Lanarkshire, has been shortlisted in the ‘Social Housing Development of the Year (under 100 Units)’ category. The project delivered nine high-quality and energy efficient homes, – including eight two-storey houses and one fully wheelchair-accessible bungalow – ensuring inclusivity and sustainability for residents.
The Berryknowe Avenue development was made possible through strong partnerships between the local Chryston community, Morris & Spottiswood, North Lanarkshire Council, and the Scottish Government.
Allan Jones, Chaiperson, Caledonia Housing Association, said “We are immensely proud to be recognised at this year’s Scottish Home Awards. These nominations reflect our core focus and priorities, as we strive to make a difference through increasing the supply of quality, affordable housing and providing the community services that have a positive impact on our neighbourhoods. The nominations acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and care of everyone at Caledonia as we consistently focus on improving tenants’ lives and delivering sustainable, inclusive communities”.
The winners will be revealed at the awards evening taking place on Thursday 19th June 2025 at Doubletree by Hilton, Glasgow.
