Scottish Housing Regulator publishes updated guidance on raising a Serious Concern
The Scottish Housing Regulator has published two updated factsheets for tenants and landlords on how to raise a Serious Concern about a social landlord.
The factsheets have been revised following feedback from tenants and landlords and provide clearer, more detailed information about:
how tenants can report a Serious Concern to the Regulator
how the Regulator considers and handles these reports
what tenants and landlords can expect during the process
The Regulator has asked all social landlords to make the updated tenant factsheet available and accessible. We are sharing this information to make sure tenants know their rights and understand the options available to them.
Helen Shaw, Director of Regulation at the Scottish Housing Regulator, said:
“Raising a Serious Concern with us is an important way for tenants to let us know about a potential failing by their landlord. It’s vital that tenants know how to do this and that social landlords know what to expect if we receive a report. We’ve updated these factsheets in response to feedback to make them even clearer.”
The Scottish Housing Regulator is also developing a British Sign Language (BSL) version of the tenant factsheet, which will be published soon.
