What is the Warm Home Discount?
The Warm Home Discount is a £150 payment applied directly to eligible customers’ electricity bills or as a credit to a pre-payment meter (usually between October and March). If you have received it for this year you don’t need to take any further action. It’s designed to help with winter energy costs. If you receive the ‘guaranteed element’ of pension credit you will automatically receive the payment and don’t need to do anything. Many people have to apply, even if you’ve received the Warm Home Discount before.
This is different from pension-age-winter-heating-payment which will be paid automatically through the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) to all to eligible people of pension age. Warm Home Discount would be paid in addition to any other schemes.
